There are only a few things in life that can give one with a genuine sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.

On the 19^th of November 2016, Whoba Ogo foundation stormed one of the largest private modern markets in Lagos, Nigeria. ‘The Arena Market’ which is situated in Oshodi (undoubtedly the heart of the commercial lifeblood of Lagos) has approximately 4,000 stalls and a daily foot count of over 10,000 people on the market grounds.

In line with our mission to avail as many people as possible with necessary information needed to stay healthy and maximize their potentials, we collaborated with the Association of Medical Students of the University of Lagos to embark on a massive health outreach in this market – ‘The Arena Market’. The primary objective of the outreach is to provide health education to as many people as possible. However we took it one step further. We provided free medical tests, free medication (drugs) and free medical consultation for our beneficiaries. Referral letters to the University teaching hospital were also written for beneficiaries whom we discovered that their health conditions need immediate medical attention.

Words are indeed scarce to describe the gratitude and sense of hope expressed on the faces of beneficiaries as they joyfully walked away with teary eyes and smiling faces at the end of the session.

The feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment was not limited to the beneficiaries alone. It was also found in no small measures among the benefactors too. The Whoba Ogo Foundation team and the members of the Association of Medical Students of University of Lagos (AMSUL) were all exhausted but satisfied with the outcome of the entire endeavor. It was well worth every penny and every drop of sweat that was expended to make it happen.
